Edwin Powell Hubble

It is necessary to know the root behind every thing. The Latin word Scire means to know. This is the root word for science in English. This essentially means that we intent to know things which are unknown or new. Through the time Scire change to Scientia and the to science in English. The following content will give you an overview of science, its misconceptions and insights.

What is science?

Science in simple words can be said as- to know or to study the structure and behavior of  the world around us by observing them and examining them using experiments. Generally the study starts from the facts, they are based on what we see, touch, hear, smell and taste rather than speculative opinions. Most of the times we do not know from where the facts come from. The important attitude is accepting the fact is true and build our structure according to it rather than avoiding facts (which are observed) by the preconceived ideas.

The basis of science

There are three components of facts, they are as follows:

1. Facts are received by the human senses and are not restricted by our known ideas.
2. Facts are independent of existing theories.
3. Facts provide a strong and unbiased foundation for the theory.

In a nut shell accepting the fact is the important point. Till date there are many theories around the world which and based on facts and those facts are convincing.

Division of science

In the early times the Science was united and was called as natural philosophy which contained almost every thing. Now in the modern world there are three divisions. They are as follow.

1. Natural science: The study of nature. The major areas are physics, chemistry and biology. When the word science is said by any one this comes into mind and people think that natural science is true science and this is a big misconception but there are other branches too.

2. Social science: There is a wide range of study in this. This main deals with the behavior of societies and individuals. Some of the branches are economics, sociology, Psychology  and more many do not accept it as true science but in reality nothing is like that.

3. Formal science: The name may be quite different but in simple words it is the language of science. It forms a universal frame work for humans to understand science. This includes the study of logic, math, and computer frame work.

The combination of the above three is collectively called as science.

What we have to understand?

What we have to understand is that every this that we study is directly or indirectly connected to science. To put in other words <EVERY THING THAT WE STUDY IS SCIENCE> . As a human we need to understand the things around us, may be not all the things but at least the things we see. Science is the study of facts. The origin of facts is unknown???
